PCMCIA Ethernet Adapter Usage Instruction

PCMCIA Ethernet Adapter is a convenient, credit card-sized adapter that provides an interface between a PCMCIA capable computer and an Ethernet network. Here are some instructions for the PCMCIA Ethernet Adapter Installation. I Inserting the Adapter into Computer

• Turn off the power to the notebook. Carefully push the other end of the Media Module into the socket on the PCMCIA Ethernet Adapter until the tabs click in place. The Media Module is keyed to attach to the adapter one way only. If you feel excessive resistance, remove the Module, turn it over, and reinsert it.
• Insert the adapter into the PCMCIA slot of your notebook. The adapter is keyed to go in one way only. If you feel excessive resistance before the adapter is fully inserted, remove the adapter, turn it over, and reinsert it.
• Turn on the power to the computer.

II Connecting to the Network For 10Base2 Coax Ethernet: Attach the BNC connector on the Combo Media Module to a Tconnector that is installed along the thin coaxial cable. If you are at the end of network cable segment, first be sure a BNC 50-ohm terminator is attached to the open end of the T-connector, and then attach the Combo Media Module. For 10Base-T Ethernet: An appropriate length of UTP modular cable is required for the connection. Connect one end of the modular cable to the RJ-45 OUT jack on the Combo or UTP Media Module. Then connect the free end of the modular cable to an "IN” jack on a 10Base-T Ethernet Hub or to a network access wall jack that is pre-wired from a 10Base- T Ethernet Hub.
